Size 20 Julie was 'stuck in a rut' until she joined Curves
STUCK IN A RUT
In 2006, Julie Selway, a mother in her early 30's, realized that her life truly had become stuck in a rut:
"My daily routine was work, come home at lunch, watch telly with my lunch, drink cups of tea, eat biscuits and watch more telly. Pick up my daughter from school and cook tea". Julie was also very conscious that her size 20 frame was worrying her loved ones; "My mum would tell me I was getting too big".
TIME FOR CHANGE
Julie knew that for the sake of her health and her family it was time for a change. "Deep down I knew my weight was getting out of control, I had to do something about it". In October 2007 she walked through the doors of her local Curves club and slowly her life began to turn a corner.
THE BENEFITS OF EXERCISE
To Julie's surprise she discovered that she really enjoyed exercise! The Curves program is designed to give results when practiced for just 30 minutes, three times a week, but Julie loved her workouts so much that she began to attend up to five times in one week – "it's a bit of 'me time'". She quickly noticed the added benefits of her new fitness levels – weight loss, no longer seeking out plus sizes in clothing stores and best of all, lots more energy to run around after her young daughter!
The now svelte and fit size 12 Julie credits Curves with helping her to embrace life again; "Joining Curves... has completely changed my lifestyle so much". She now enjoys family outdoor activities, no longer shies away from meeting new people, and has lots more confidence, "All I really want to say is a huge 'Thank you'".
